About Us

We grew up at an intersection in time, when technology started permeating every part of our lives. This essentially made us live two lives. Even before we knew it, our phones and apps completely changed the way we think about culture. Swimming in the river ponds and taking part in village festivals have started becoming a fuzzy memory. So, when we wanted to create something of our own, we turned back to our roots.

Chilamb is our attempt to honor and celebrate our roots. We want to preserve the human element in the great wave of globalization which tends to homogenize everything. Being from Kannur, the so-called land of looms and lores, we aspire to bring to the world, the artisanship of our once-thriving weaving societies and re-tell the lores of Theyyam through skilfully handcrafted weaves. We strive to create fashion that brings alive the beauty of tradition, that reminds you of the unexpendable human touch in the imperfectly handwoven fabrics and celebrates the rich cultural heritage of our homeland.
